Narrative Structures In Fiction with Marija Peričić

  • Queensland Writers Centre Stanley Place South Brisbane, QLD, 4101 Australia (map)

Explore different narrative structures and learn how to use them to best craft the story you want to tell.

Narrative structure is the framework that controls how a story unfolds. Considering which structure best suits your story can help you build an engaging plot that hooks the reader and keeps them turning the pages. Confidence with narrative structures helps you avoid pitfalls like the “saggy middle” and directionless writing. We’ll look at some common narrative structures and how they interact with character and point of view. Through a combination of reading, group discussions and practical exercises you will learn techniques of narrative structure and how to use them to best craft the story that you want to tell.

  • Understand the difference between plot, story and narrative structure
