As a not-for-profit membership organisation, incorporated by association, Queensland Writers Centre has a voluntary Management Committee elected by the membership. The Committee is our governing body, providing strategic direction and overseeing our resources to make sure we deliver the best possible service to our members, partners and our community.
Queensland Writers Centre operates under the terms of our Constitution and Rules.
Annual General Meeting
Queensland Writers Centre’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) gives our members and Management Committee an opportunity to review the state of the organisation. The proceedings include the Management Committee elections.

Registrations (open now): Mon 10 Mar – Fri 18 Apr 2025
Attendance at the AGM is open only to current financial members or those whose memberships are no more than one month in arrears.

Voting for positions on the Management Committee is open from Friday 28 March until the AGM. Please read the nominee profiles below before casting your vote using one of the following methods:
Online Voting closes 28 April at 5:00pm AEST (Brisbane time).
Postal Voting
Complete the Postal Voting form and send to:
Queensland Writers Centre, PO Box 3488, South Brisbane, QLD 4101.
Postal votes must be received by 28 April at 5:00pm AEST.
In-Meeting Voting
Available using the General Ballot form or Online Voting form, during the AGM, for attendees who have not yet voted.
Proxy Voting
Complete the Proxy Voting form and return to QWC in conjunction with the General Ballot or Postal Voting form.
Proxies will be verified separately prior to the AGM.

Elle Croxford MAICD brings 30+ years of experience across the screen, creative industries, and government sectors, with expertise in governance, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. A member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Elle has served on industry and NFP boards, providing strong financial oversight and strategic direction. Elle is the author of the Better Now Than Never book series and The Sentimental Blonde. She has been the recipient of the Brisbane City Council’s Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowship and the Queensland Writers Centre’s Fishbowl Writers Residency. Her vision for the Queensland Writers Centre is to foster a thriving, inclusive literary community, leveraging her experience to enhance sustainability, innovation, and opportunities for Queensland writers. Elle is committed to nurturing creativity, promoting diverse voices, and ensuring robust governance for the Centre’s growth and success.

Colin is an applied scientist and graduate of Queensland Institute of Technology (1985). He has a long association with the water industry and works for Queensland Water Directorate and independently as a consultant, often applying his skills in regional and remote places.
In 2017, Col was awarded the Australian Water Association Queensland Water Professional of the Year. A keen writer, Col is the author of numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers and is happiest when researching and writing about local history and industrial heritage. He is the president of the Mount Crosby Historical Society.
Through his role at QWC, Col aspires to help others find enjoyment, expression and knowledge in the art of writing.Nominated for: Secretary

Pamela Jeffs
Pamela Jeffs has a professional background, holding a Bachelor Degree in Interior Design (Architecture). Her career has been spent working in collaborative, artistic environments where creation is balanced with commercial objectivity. Through this, she has a keen business mindset and the adaptability to interact with professionals at all levels.
As an author - artistic pursuit remains her passion. However, integration of her professional business skill base into the literary industry is a key strength. This moderated balance, applied to successfully support artistic pursuits, is a valuable asset in management roles.
As a writing professional, Pamela is an award-winning author, presenter, mentor, and literary judge. She owns the micro-press, Four Ink Press, and supports writing groups and conventions on a volunteer basis. She has also facilitated small fundraising opportunities for the QWC’s residency programmes. Her vision for the QWC centres on promoting community, confidence and resilience for all writers.Nominated for: Ordinary Member

Victoria is the Head of the Roderick Centre for Australian Literature and Creative Writing in North Queensland and an Associate Professor of English and Writing at James Cook University (JCU). She has served on several boards, including as director of the Foundation for Australian Literary Studies and as the Queensland Representative of the Association for the Study of Australian Literature. She has edited national and international journals, including the Journal for the Study of Australian Literature and Literature in North Queensland. She has extensive experience working with schools and educators, and is deeply committed to bridging the gap between academia and the public. Victoria believes creative writing and storytelling are essential tools for addressing the grand challenges of our time. She is passionate about fostering new and diverse voices, particularly from regional Australia, and believes that place itself is a source of creativity and inspiration.

David Shield
David is a professional Japanese interpreter and translator. He graduated from Griffith University with a B.A in Japanese language, Asian Political Studies, and history and holds a Master’s of International Studies as well as a Master of Japanese Interpreting and Translation from the University of Queensland. Prior to opening his own translation house in 2021 David worked as a senior international relations officer for Oyama City in Japan.
David writes in several genres, including fantasy, historical fiction and sci-fi and his middle-grade fiction work My Dad’s an Evil Necromancer was shortlisted for QWC’s Publishable competition in 2022, and his short story translation won the New Translator Prize (Japanese to English) from the Australian Society of Interpreters and Translators in 2021.
David has been an Ordinary Member of the Management Committee since 2023.Nominated for: Vice Chair
